I just overheard this conversation of my mom talking to my dad on the phone, telling him how to spell my pregnant cousin’s name so he can send her a card for her baby shower:
M: Their last name is Britton. Linsey spells her name L-I-N-S-E-Y, which is unusual….
D: [probably something about how that’s a weird way to spell it]
M: Yeah… I blame education. Or lack thereof. There wasn’t a lot of reading or study happening in that family.
[a few seconds pass]
M: And they’re naming the baby Zayne. Yes, Zayne. Spelled with a Y. Why they’re naming him that, and with a Y…. It’s just going to make him sound more like a girl, I don’t…..
In that short conversation, my mom severely judged: my aunt, my uncle, my cousin and my cousin’s husband. I’m still laughing hysterically. I finally understand where I get it from.
(Seriously though, Zayne?? I know my cousin is a teacher, and therefore must think of something ~original~ for her child, but yeesh…)
